Last night I attended the launch of the fantastic LETI (London Energy Transformation Initiative) Climate Emergency Design Guide; it was truly astonishing and inspiring to see so many consultants, clients and contractors all with the same mindset to make positive change in response to the climate emergency. It is time for us all to our do our bit!
Pick Everard have already signed the Climate and Biodiversity Emergency Declaration as we understand that the transformation required cannot happen without a wide-ranging declaration of intent, followed by committed action, international cooperation and open source knowledge sharing. We are already helping clients to review their current situation and consult with them to generate a realistic but challenging action plan which is driven by the need to firstly re-balance the disproportionate amount of energy being used in operation vs the amount of renewable energy generated.
We are in a climate emergency, and urgently need to reduce carbon emissions, this guide outlines the requirements of new buildings to ensure our climate change targets are met - setting out a definitive journey, beyond climate emergency declarations, into a net zero carbon future.
