The GMCA is continuing to provide funding and support across the Greater Manchester area. The latest round sees a number of key schemes recommended for approval by Sir Richard Leese.
The report asks that business cases for both the International Screen School Manchester (ISSM) and a Cyber Innovation Hub are approved, the process of grant applications progressed and a main contractor appointed to build ISSM.
Manchester City Council is asking for £5m to develop 12,000 sq ft at Heron House on Albert Square as a Cyber Innovation Hub. The 96,000 sq ft building is owned by the council and managed by Bruntwood.
Earlier this year, a planning application for a refurbishment project led by 5plus was submitted. The scheme will help to further lift the area, in what will become the corridor towards the controversial St Micheal's development.
