Two top rival Premier League teams are not only battling to be top in the Premier League, they are also battling for new increased capacity stadiums. Tottenham released their video at the beginning of this year for a £400m redevelopment to increase capacity to 61,000, whilst Chelsea received planning permission for their proposed redevelopment of £500m to increase capacity to 60,000.
This is fantastic news for the fan base for these London clubs but also great news for the construction industry. Both these projects will present their own unique set of challenges but with these type of projects innovation through design, construction and collaboration always flourishes. Sport with its team ethos, the leadership analysis and planning is an industry that the construction industry can learn a lot from in getting the most from it's individuals and the teams involved with these 2 projects will hopefully encourage the cross-fertilisation of the management and delivery techniques which drives success.
