We have all heard of intelligent or smart buildings but how about IoT?
IoT involves the planting of sensors throughout the building. Relatively cheap to purchase and install these inform building operators on use, frequency, utilisation, temperatures, consumption (even coffee!)
The data provided benefits building performance and cost savings. Energy use can be controlled, desk space can be properly allocated, areas more efficiently utilised......cleaners know where to clean.
The correct relationship between comfort, flexibility, economic efficiency and security can be decided upon and the appropriate actions taken.
IoT will undoubtedly help meet the demands of MEES. Currently around 20% of commercial property fails top meet legislation.
So keep an eye out, big brother may be coming to the workplace!
