This is good news. After some less than concrete statements from Teresa May, Chris Grayling, the Transport Secretary, has come out in favour of HS2.
Whilst he won't be drawn on whether Heathrow or Gatwick is going to be home to our much needed expansion in airport capacity, it's positive to see that Mr Grayling continues the government's support of HS2.
The Stop HS2 campaign group had called on Mr Grayling to urgently review the project on cost grounds, and the effect on towns and cities near the route. But Mr Grayling told BBC Radio 4's The World This Weekend: "I have no plans to back away from the HS2 project."
