After an intense period of market engagement and soul searching, it appears Scape Group has moved away from single-source procurement in favour of a multi-contractor model.
The new Scape contractor framework has been announced with five lots, 3 regional, 2 national, and you must assume the ensuing competition and increased complexity in getting a contractor on board must have been balanced by Scape with the opportunity to deliver greater savings for the public sector.
With a price tag of £5.5Bn, the new framework potentially increases the value Scape can deliver for the public sector by four times compared to the current arrangement.
The race is certainly on...
Scape Group is switching its coveted national construction framework over from a single contractor to potentially several winners. Mark Robinson, Scape Group chief executive, says the new framework will be more flexible with a choice of contractor providers. The procurement body unveiled the big change as its prepared to start the race for the revamped national construction framework for public projects worth more than £2m.
